May your teeth be white!!!
The bleaching process can be applied in a clinical setting (office type whitening) or it can be applied by the patient at home (home type whitening). Successive application of office and home bleaching methods prolongs the permanence of whitening. In-office whitening is performed by your dentist applying a whitening gel to your teeth and activating this gel using a light source. On the other hand, home bleaching is applied by the patient by putting a certain amount of the special whitening gel given to you by your dentist into the plates specially prepared for the person, thanks to the measurements taken from the chin. These plaques stay in the mouth for 3-4 hours during the day, depending on the properties of the gel applied.
Home bleaching alone is not preferred by patients because its effectiveness is less than office whitening and its application time is longer.
In order for the whitening applications to be successful and the results to be preserved for a long time, the person should pay attention to his nutrition after bleaching. It is recommended to stay away from coloring foods and drinks such as cigarettes, tea, coffee, chocolate, cherry, caramel, tomato paste for 2 weeks. In addition, consumption of acidic foods and beverages will cause sensitivity, so they should be avoided. After whitening, the use of whitening toothpastes increases the duration of the achieved whiteness; Toothpastes containing bleaching agents cause both discoloration and sensitivity.
Although the whitening process is perceived as a cosmetic procedure, it cannot be said that it can be applied and successful in every individual. Therefore, whitening should be done after the dentist evaluates the patient’s mouth and takes appropriate precautions.
